2010 Oratorical Contest Winners

The 2010 oratorical contest came to it’s conclusion at the club level when the finals were held on March 26th.

We had 26 youth this year. There were 10 boys and 16 girls, which meant that preliminary contests had to be held. On final night, six boys and six girls gave absolutely brilliant performances of their speeches.


First Place

Coming in first for the girls was Paulina Gudel, a 5th grade student at Plainfield School in Des Plaines. The first place boys winner was Yohann Lobo a 15 year old freshman at St. Viator's High School



Second Place

Second place for the girls was won by Adrianna Ladner, a Freshman at Maine West High School. Second place for the boys was won by Connor McGing from Plainfield school.



Third Place

Third place for the girls was won by Nicole Del Re a 6th grader at Winston Campus Elementary School in Palatine. Third place for the boys was won by Jimmy Del Re, a 3rd grader also from Winston Campus Elementary School in Palatine.

 



 

The first place winners competed at the regional oratorical event on March 27th in Des Plaines, Yohann Lobo took 1st place for the boys.  He will not compete at the finals in Peoria on May 15th.

On behalf of the Optimist Club of Des Plaines, I would like to extend my congratulations to all who participated. Your enthusiasm and dedication make this event a pleasure to be involved with.
